Welcome!

Time to step it up a notch in the blogosphere! After a rather quiet summer of blogging, I am revamping the site. Be patient, as I will be constantly tweaking things until they are just the way I want them to be. This is where I will post race updates, riveting stories of my training adventures, the odd interview and more basic ramblings from my life.

So who am I? I am Petermax Neumann, Pate for short. I grew up in Caledon, Ontario and have spent the last few years traveling the great ski towns in Canada, training with different teams along the way. I have settled in Canmore, Alberta for this year and am training with the Canmore Nordic Ski Club. I am a part of a highly focused group of athletes known as the "A-TEAM." We are all training with one goal in mind: The Olympic Winter Games. Some of us have our sights set on 2010, others on 2014. Either way, we have all embarked on the journey to become the best of the best, while living life to its fullest along the way.

I hope you enjoy!

Punching Back!

Thanks to Dave for the Photos!

Well Jess was right. The climb at km 3 was pretty tough, but most of the men were able to fight back, posting 4 in the top 30. The competition was pretty fierce out there, and the final results were very tight. I think the majority of the U23 men are happy; again, most were shooting for a top ten, so there is a little disappointment lingering. Some of the men racing have posted top 20's on the World Cup, so you have to stand back and look at the big picture.

Below are the unofficial results for the senior men and women. You will have to excuse the poor photo quality, it was hard to weasel my way in and get a shot (hopefully you can zoom in on your computer). Some of the times are cut off... but it was the best I could get. Again, they are unofficial, so when they are posted on the FIS site, there may be some changes.

Overall I am quite happy with my race. Acclimatizing to the time change, and dealing with the jet leg has gone better then ever. This race was right up there (feeling wise) with the 30km pursuit at Trials and the 15km skate in Silver Star. It was a tough course, and I opened up strong but held a little back on the second lap, not wanting to blow up on the final lap. Once I got out onto the third and final lap, I realized I had been a bit too conservative. But hindsight is always 20/20, and there isn't much I can do about it now. Lenny and Fred were tight (0.2sec), and Kev and I were within 5 seconds of each other. Graeme is recovering from sickness, and Dave and Julien are struggling with sore throats, coughs and congestion.

I am happy with the weekend, and and looking forward to next weekend. It was a good jump start to get the body going, and with another week of rest and training, hopefully we can post some top 10 finishes in the next races.

The team will hang out in Olivone Monday and Tuesday, then travel to the new race site in Italy on Wednesday. We have gotten word that the skate sprint next weekend has been changed to a classic sprint... Some are happy about it, some not so much.

It was pretty sweet to watch the World Cup in Canmore on Euro Sport Friday and Saturday night. Canmore, as always looked amazing on TV. Congrats to all the Canadians who raced!

Time to put the legs up and enjoy the town of Olivone!

I'm impressed with your website! Keep updating, I see FIS is a few days behind, and we are all excited to know results! As for me, well the world cup was complete shit. Now I think I am sick. Bummer. At least it seems like I'm not the only one
